Unionized Redding firefighters are at a bargaining impasse with the city over what the firefighters say are unfair practices following months of negotiations for their latest contract. Union officials announced on April 16 that they had filed the unfair labor practice charges, citing concerns over meeting delays, backtracking on bargaining and accusations that one fire official talked with union members without a union official present. 'We feel this is our only means of recourse due to the city's refusal to bargain in good faith with Redding firefighters,' said Michael Ham, president of Redding Firefighters Local 1934.
